When you apply to be a member here ,

To be a member you go to the ' create new account ' link right below the login in the left sidebar ,

your request is sent to an administrator, and you are sent the first of two emails which contains a one time only login url , but you cannot use it untill you receive the email saying your account has been approved.

Sort of a how to for new users covering registration , profiles , contact forms etc ; and how this site flows and how they can best experience it. Theres a lot of user interactivity possible here after you register an account .
